Roman, today is your 1st birthday big guy!! I can hardly believe it. The day you were born is still so fresh in my mind that it doesn't seem possible you've been with us for an entire year already. I look at you and am amazed at how much you've grown. You're no longer a tiny, cuddly baby anymore. You're becoming an independent little boy with your own agenda. You are so smart and seem to pick up a new "trick" each day. You love to mimic your daddy and will try your hardest to do whatever it is he's showing you. Seeing the two of you interact melts my heart!! So far he has taught you to bang on your chest and make Tarzan noises and to do "touchdown". You've even started trying to say touchdown which is quite impressive little man! You also say "da da" and "mama" and a few times have said "Elmo" and "doggie".
We took your bottles away a week ago and also started giving you whole milk. You didn't seem to mind either as long as we warm your milk just a little and you still sit in our laps while you drink your milk from your big boy cup. I love this time with you because you're so peaceful :)
You love your "bear bear" and still insist on sniffing it and carrying it around during the day as well as sleep with it. It's starting to look a little ragged. I can't remember when you became so attached to him but you will whine for him if you don't seem him and need some comfort. I'm beginning to wonder if you'll take bear bear to college with you :)
In the past 2 weeks, you have completely mastered walking and spend most of your awake time walking around the house from room to room. You love to explore and we have to keep an eye on you at all times. You've also gotten so fast at getting around so you keep us very busy these days!
To celebrate your birthday, I baked you a cake and we had Granny Martin over to open gifts. We Skyped with Grandpa and Grandma Collins so they could see you open the gift they sent you (a story book narrated by Grandma) and watch you eat your birthday cake. You were so excited to dig into the cake but didn't seem to really enjoy the taste. You had more fun making a mess out of it!
Happy FIRST birthday to my handsome baby boy!!
